African Women in Science and Engineering (AWSE) is an organization that seeks to highlight and enhance the contribution of African women scientists and engineers towards development of the continent. Women in Africa make up 50% of the work force and yet are under-represented in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. It is the role of AWSE to encourage more women to pursue STEM careers while encouraging women scientists and engineers to embrace leadership positions. AWSE seeks to bring together a wide network of African scientists and engineers, whose discourse will enable them to find solutions for challenges facing Africa. Finally, AWSE seeks to make visible the successes of the African Scientist and Engineer, to enable collaboration for the development of our countries, Africa and the World.
